LAOS/ASIA
After I started my Asian trip with Tubing in Laos it was a great idea to end it again in Vang Vieng. Tubing is stupid, dangerous, dirty, unhealthy, the music sucks big time and it’s “expensive.” But in the end it’s all about having a fantastic day. Everyone celebrates with each other, no one is aggressive – which is unexpectedly impressive after 10 Whiskey Shots, 5 Buckets and 10 Beer Lao – and it feels like being part of a huge drunk family. Of course, you could question the purpose of Tubing in an unspoiled and friendly nation like Laos, but on the other hand the locals make lots of money with it and it is/was their own choice. I loved it and I would do it again – maybe I can put together a little illegal Tubing version back home in Hamburg, but with better music.
